Locktera’s end-to-end encryption guarantees that your files are fully protected throughout their entire journey.
Client-Side Encryption & DecryptionCopied!
Locktera uses client-side encryption and decryption to secure all data within its platform. Containers (folders of encrypted data) are encrypted on the sender's device before leaving, ensuring that only the intended recipient can decrypt and access the data on their device. This architecture prevents third-party access, including Locktera itself, ensuring that your data remains fully protected from unauthorized access.
Handling Microsoft Office Files With Server EncryptionCopied!
When it comes to handling Microsoft Office files or other content that requires conversion to PDF format for viewing, Locktera applies encryption at the server level. While this introduces server-side encryption for specific use cases, the overall integrity and security of the data are still maintained.
For organizations that require 100% client-side encryption—meaning no server-side interaction is involved—the workflow requires Microsoft Office files to be sent either as PDFs or as downloadable files. This allows organizations to retain full control over their encryption process without compromising data security.
Limitations of Client-Side Encryption Copied!
Due to browser constraints, client-side encryption is limited to 1TB of data per session. The client-side encryption process temporarily requires twice the storage space on the user's device, as both the original and encrypted versions of the data are stored during encoding.
Despite these limitations, Locktera's commitment to end-to-end encryption ensures that sensitive data remains fully protected, whether being transferred or stored within the platform. The flexibility offered by client-side encryption makes Locktera an ideal solution for organizations seeking to maintain the utmost confidentiality in their business workflows.
